Twenty-eight state library associations, including the California Library Association or CLA, allow students to join both the ALA and their state chapter for one price. Students will be able to obtain joint membership to both organizations for only $38, from now through August 31, 2015.

By becoming a student member of ALA, you will be able to apply for the $300,000 that ALA annually sets aside for student scholarships. Students pursuing a master's degree in library and information studies from an ALA accredited program, or for a master's degree in school library media program that meets the ALA curriculum guidelines for a National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE) accredited unit, are eligible for these scholarships.
