LAPL Central Library Tour

ALA@UCLA is partnering with Central Library downtown for a tour on Monday November 13th, 1:30-3:00pm. The supervisors for the photo collection and history/genealogy department will be hosting us, and we will get a chance to see some other areas of the library as well. We did a tour of this library last spring, and it was very informative and fun! Central Library is the third largest central library in the nation, containing over 2.8 million books, 3 million photographs, and 10 million digital access U.S. patents. It was built in 1926 and has been designated a Los Angeles Historic Cultural Monument and is listed in the National Register of Historic Places.

We will be meeting in the History & Genealogy Department on Lower Level 4 at the Reference Desk, which is the desk by the Atrium/escalators (not the elevators). The library address is 630 W 5th St. Los Angeles, CA 90071. Parking is $5, so please use the sign up sheet to arrange carpooling if you need. Public transit is also an option at this location as it is close to Pershing Square and 7th St/Metro Ctr stations.​
